Makaya McCraven just released a few more jams in his “In the Moment” series – vamp beats culled from a number of live improvised performances. I have a soft spot in my heart for drummer-led Jazz groups. The beat pushes harder, the pocket is inevitably tight, and the percussion has to be special in order for that guy/girl to have become the bandleader.
