Battle Ave is good. I mean, an ‘I’m going to listen to them again and again and try to figure them out’ kind of good. The emotion in lead singer songwriter Jesse Alexander’s voice fills out their foundation of solid, unassuming rock. Their oldest album War Paint is big and anthemic, ready to fill a stadium. While their newest, Year of Nod is so held back, you have to focus to listen — but Battle Ave shows great control in both. I’m bridging the gap and posting the track that was released in between the two albums to give you a taste. Proceed in whichever direction you prefer.
